First week of school

The first week was CRAZY.I am the kind of person who loves consistency, knowing what my plans are for the day and the week (and life for that matter), knowing where all of my classes are, routine... you get the idea. And this week I switched classes like I change clothes in the morning (ahem, a lot). I was dropping classes like flies and picking up classes I never even considered for this semester! I started doing research with a professor and quickly realized that I wouldn't like it and that I wouldn't have 8 hours outside of class to dedicate to it. I decided to not take Spanish this semester (GASP), and hopefully will take it next semester instead. I ended up in the one class that I have dreaded taking for a while now and I like it way more than some of my other classes!

I had to adjust (and am still adjusting) to a new schedule at work with new people and their new schedules to work around. I got a raise of like 25 cents and that was actually kinda exciting (its my third year working for the same job, I should demand like a $5 increase or something haha).

Oh and on top of everything, we were driving back and forth from Orem (at family's house) because our apartment was incomplete/under construction. Josh has 8am classes on the days that I get to sleep in and I have 8am classes on the days that Josh gets to sleep in. And we have one car, which equals getting up for 8am class everyday! Yay for us! It ended up not being too bad, just not very convenient. Josh was also job searching and working on our apartment to help out with the process so that we could move in to our place. He learned some new things about construction (always good to make new skills!)

And for the first time ever, I forgot to take first day of school pictures :( I am ashamed.

Ramblings

This past weekend (this was the last weekend in August I believe....) we were able to go to Park City which is always a blast! I love the feeling up there and being able to spend time with Josh's grandparents. They are so awesome. One our way up we drove right past a fire that had been going on for just a couple hours prior and a lot of trees right next to us were burnt and there was a ton of smoke. I could even see the flames of part of the fires. It was pretty crazy! We also got to go out on their speedboat which was actually so relaxing and a lot of fun. I also love the the outlet mall in Park City!! But unfortunately we didn't find too many great deals to start off our new school year. But that is okay, because the search for great deals is still on.

When we got back Josh worked on our apartment to help get it ready for us to move into, we bought books (ouch), changed our marital status on campus, got my ring cleaned, had a  good workout, played some volleyball, Josh taught me how to long board and I only fell once!, visited my grandma and watched the Hunger Games for the first time (which I had a hard time liking).

School starts on Monday. I am ready, but a little nervous with how much work it will be. If my schedule works out like I think it should... I will have 21 credits and be working part time. What. Am. I. Doing?!

one week later

and a lot has gone down. We are now back in Utah. Oh and I was singing praises to be out of that hotel room. We got to spend the night in Rexburg with my beautiful sister and niece on our way down from Montana. And we have had job interviews, scholarship appointments and lots of apartment drama. I've been quite a mess the past few days, but I am sure things will work out soon. I am just overly ready to have our own place, with our own stuff and not move for a long time (at least one semester haha hopefully longer than that). So if posts are scarce the next week or so, I apologize. Life is a little crazy, and so am I.

From the wise President Gordon B. Hinckley:
“Things will work out. Keep trying. Be believing. Don't get discouraged. Things will work out.”

i'm a wanna be

Confession of a nobody: When I created this blog, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to make of it. I knew that I wanted my family to be able to see the things that I was up to. I knew that I wanted to be able to look back and remember all the little and big events of my life. But aside from that, I wasn't too sure what else by blog would be and I don't think that I really thought any about it. As I began to get more into the blogging world and reading other, more well known blogs, I have discovered that I want more out of my blog.

I have a slight obsession with fashion blogs (although you probably couldn't tell from my own wardrobe). I absolutely love them. I love how they give me new ideas for new outfits and ideas for how to wear my current wardrobe in different ways. I love how they inspire me to try a little harder to be more put together. As a college student, and especially as a stay at home wife right now, I need that motivation to not just throw on a pair of sweats and go about my day. It is more than just the way I look. It is how I feel in what I wear. When I put a little more effort into what I wear and the way I look, I FEEL better. I feel that I have more energy. I have more confidence in myself. I smile more. I am more outgoing. It is crazy how such a simple thing can have all of these effects.

But then it gets hard. Because I don't have the money to make my wardrobe how I want it. Even with my love of thrift shopping. I also do not know how to use blogger to its full potential. Nor do I have a nice camera to take the pictures that go along with a fashion blog. I dream that one day I could add fashion into the everyday aspects of my blog. As I evolve, so does my blog. It is an amazing process and one day I will be able to reach my goals. And I think  I need to remember that things happen little by little and with a lot of effort. If I put the effort in, I can do whatever I want to. So as I play around with the idea of adding a "fashion blogger" aspect to my blog, we will see what happens. Maybe when I get back to school and actually have my wardrobe with me, I will take a step toward that direction. And maybe I will discover that it is not for me. But I will not know until I try it out.

The Peterson Family Reunion

Monday night we surprised the Peterson family and showed up in Island Park, Idaho for the family reunion! It was a fun filled few days and I was so glad that we were able to go. I loved being able to get to know all the Peterson's better. They are all so awesome!

The first night people were still arriving and it was more relaxed. We all enjoyed watching the Olympics at the cabin and enjoying each other's company.

The next day we got up and out the door early to make the trip to Yellowstone National Park. We drove around looking at the beautiful scenery, hiked up to see Old Faithful erupt from a better view, played in a very cold lake where we met a very funny Asian lady who thought Josh was pretty sexy, looked around some tourist shops, ate a yummy malt, and got back later in the day where we played games and hung out.

The next morning we got up and out the house early again where we went to a nearby river. There we floated/rowed down the river. We had canoes and a raft. It got tricky in some parts where the water was really shallow, but it was fun to go down the river. We were on there for a few hours. And the water was FREEZING. So when we got to the very lame rope swing, I had no desire of jumping in. Josh of course did. He made me so nervous as he tried different ways to jump into the not so deep water. However, he didn't leave unscathed. His leg got caught on the rope so he had a pretty big burn on the back of his knee. We still had a great time! Later that night we played "Olympic games" with everyone. It was so fun to see everyone try the various competitions! We had a great time visiting with everyone and we were bummed to drive back Thursday morning. Thank you to all who put in so much effort for the reunion to happen and be fun for everyone!

Everyone watching the Olympics

Josh has been looking to buy me a hat, and we found this one and loved it! It also says yellowstone on the side. Thank you hubby!! You're the best :)

One pillow in the car, two girls = their solution.  Oh Cami and Chari are awesome :)

The drive home the clouds and sun were gorgeous!
I apologize for the scarce and random pictures. These were only from my phone which died and we couldn't find our camera. I will try and get some pictures from other people soon :)

All finished!!

A year and some months later, I am FINISHED with my online American Heritage class. And let me tell ya, it was hard. And let me tell ya something else, it feels so incredibly good to have it all done!! There was a lot of stress building up to taking my final exam. I had ordered my test to come in to a testing center in Billings, and then two days later found out I was moving in a couple days. The test didn't come in when I thought it would, it was due by the 9th and mailing time took longer than I thought. The testing center wasn't calling me back. Oh and the fact that I spent hours and hours studying and not sure how I was supposed to remember everything. And then Monday rolled around. The day we were supposed to move. The testing center still not calling me back so I wasn't sure if the test had even arrived. There were lots of prayers and lots of support from husband. He is so great at helping calm my worries. Even though I keep worrying, I know that he will always be the calm one especially when I really need it. One of us has to be calm! We eventually went over to the school to track down this lady who was not calling me back. After lots of waiting we eventually found the woman and lo and behold my test had come in the mail!! I was able to take my test while husband went back home and packed up all our stuff! I took the test (I didn't fail. score!) and right after we hopped in the car and moved to Bozeman, Montana. We dropped off our stuff in our hotel and then kept on driving to Island Park, Idaho for the Peterson family reunion! Feels so good to have that class done and be able to enjoy the last few weeks before school starts up again! Oh, and I got an A- in the class. Nothing short of a miracle.

Live-Love-Laugh

Live
  • Josh is accepted to the Business program! That is just still so exciting.
  • Really, most of the week I have spent studying my brains out. That is about all.
  • Oh and one trip to an awesome candy store! Had all the candy a person could ever want, and more! [Including flavored insects....]

Love
  • Josh commenting on a woman's hair and how she had an "extreme ombre look". Oh the fact that he knows what ombre styled hair is and would even think of mentioning it. Sniff, I have taught him so well!
  • How patient my hubby is when I have melt downs over, well, nothing. Darn hormones, you need to get under control!
  • Watching the Olympics. Pretty cool to watch, although hubby gets way more into it than I do.
  • How I don't have to put on makeup every day, because I do not see anyone. Ever.

Laugh
  • Girl who got up in church to bear her testimony and used the words "straight up", "down to earth" and "vibe" in describing her feelings of the truthfulness of the church.
  • Awesome=another woman who got up in church today to bear her testimony and talked about how she was visiting Aurora, CO with her family, said a prayer of safety and then left to go to the Dark Knight Rises movie [at the theater that all the craziness happened] , and ALL their car tires went flat before they got there. They could have been in that theater that night. It was a strong testimony of the power of prayer.
  • When typing "insects" under Live, and accidentally typing "incest". Opps...
  • Awkward= house keeping in a hotel. Especially when they do not hear you yell out "one minute!" That's all I'm gonna say about that.

this is what my week looks like

I have an online class that I so mistakingly decided to take, LAST SUMMER! It is American Heritage and it was not wise of me, a history hater, to take this kind of class all by myself on my own time. Well, the course is all due on Aug. 9th. I have finished everything, but studying for this beast of a final has been difficult. I am not looking forward to taking it but I gotta pass the test to pass the class! Can't wait to get it over with. Aren't I not supposed to be doing this until a few more weeks??

On another note: We are moving again. To another city in Montana. Just a couple hours away. On Sunday.
