baby blessing

Not the first or the last time that she doesn't want all our mushy loving on her :)

Grandma Peterson

She was not up for all the pictures

Two Sundays ago we had Skyler's baby blessing that took place at church. Both grandparents were there and it was perfect. Sky was not up for all of the pictures, so we will have to take a few more in her (my old) blessing dress, but she did so great during church. I cannot believe that my dress is still so white and how beautiful Sky looked. I loved the emotions of the day and how touched Josh felt to give her that blessing. Baby girl is lucky to have an amazing dad like she does. And amazing grandparents that love her so much. We are all so blessed to have each other.

kindness is always stylish DIY graphic tee

Like I've probably said before, I love graphic tees! But I don't like the price on a lot of them. I saw this t-shirt  and thought it was so cute (we need more nice in the world! I'm hating on the "you can't sit with us" shirts currently trending), but definitely not worth $40!

Kindness Is Always Stylish

So this time around I bought a 4 pack of Hanes comfort fit (mens) t-shirts from Target, some freezer paper and made my own! What do you think? I had to change the neck line because the crew cut looked a little too masculine for this piece. I had to look up how to do it and it took a little practicing but I think the neckline turned out pretty well!

I forgot to take a before picture but these were the shirts I used! (mine came with white, black and grey... stay tuned for more DIY t-shirts!)

DIY decorative bottles

Love this idea. Must do this after I finish drinking the wine. ;-) Feeling Creative? DIY Wine Bottle Craft (Step By Step Instructions)

I've seen bottles on Pinterest that I found super cute ^^^^^^^^, so I decided to make my own!

I thought I took pictures of the bottles before I started but now I can't seem to find them. I went to Goodwill and found 4 cute glass bottles that I got for $4 total! Then I took hemp (for the brown) and yarn (for the creamy white) and wrapped them around the bottles, using the hot glue gun for over the bumps and where the bottle thins. I found some flowers that I thought were pretty (Michael's had goodie bags FULL of fake flowers and other fun things for only $2... My mom and I went a little crazy with them and it was so much fun!) and put them in! I love that I can switch out these flowers when I feel like a change. I was going to write "amor" across the bottles, but once I got to this point I really liked the way it looked. If I get bored of it, I can always go back and add that on :) I love the way that these bottles add a little pop of color to our currently dreary front room. We are in the process of more projects to make our house a little more decorative and visually appealing. Hopefully more to come on that in the next few weeks!

first time in the pool

Sky has been the to pool several times but this was her first trip IN the pool! I was nervous about letting her go in, and Josh REALLY wanted to swim with her. So at her 2 month appointment I asked the pediatrician what she thought and she gave her stamp of approval so decided what the heck! We went out, bought a swim suit and diapers (who knew that they don't make swim diapers that small! Smallest was 16lb so we just had to make that work!) and went straight to the pool once the weather was right.

Sky seemed pretty indifferent about the whole experience. She didn't cry but she didn't smile much either. I'll count that as she liked it, although she wore out pretty fast ;)

Look at those crazy hairs of hers. I think she is going to have curly hair.

2 months

Our little Skyler Jane is two months old! She weighted in at 11 lbs 4 ounces at her appointment and shots were not a pleasant experience at all. I didn't think I would cry but I most definitely did. I can't believe she is two months and I know that it is just going to keep going faster and faster from here. She is the most adorable little girl ever. Sky is spoiled with kisses and snuggles daily, people love to tell us how cute she is when we are in public, and she is just as sweet as ever. She still is not much of a crier expect for usual times when she is tired or really hungry. She still falls asleep every time I feed her, and right now she is only taking one bottle for the middle of the night/morning hours and breastfeeding the rest of the time. Breastfeeding continues to be quite the challenge. With a lingering infection and the ENT saying that her tongue tie is not severe enough to clip, we are trying to figure out what our next step is to getting this experience to be better! We are not giving up yet! :) Her sleep patterns are getting better slowly and we feel SO blessed with how well she does sleep already which is about from about 9:30pm to 4 or 5ish and then goes back to bed for a couple more hours. I had one night when Josh was out of town that she slept from 9:30 to 8!! I woke up at about 6am and freaked out thinking something was wrong because I hadn't heard her make a peep all night! But all was well :) I'm absolutely loving being a mommy. It is really hard to describe, and I never understood when people said it but I literally cannot get enough of her!

Shots day was so emotional for the both of us. She screamed her hurt cry and she shed real tears which I had never really seen before. Mama almost did not make it through this appointment. The nurse who gave the shots immediately left after she was done and said I could stay in the room and nurse her if I would like. Well I tried to calm her down by nursing her but she just wouldn't stop crying. My heart broke. I know this won't be the last time that I want to console my baby and make all her hurt go away. I imagine it doesn't get easier, but instead gets harder. I got her to calm down a little before we left the office as we sang some of The Wheels on the Bus and I held her close to me. She was a champ for the rest of the day, just wanting some extra snuggles which I was more than okay with. Overall, she did so great. She is such a blessing in my life!

poor quality, but just so cute.

we really are in trouble with a sad face like that
