Christmas Break with the Petersons

We had two Christmases this year. The first we spent with the Peterson's before Christmas day. Bryndee and Kyle were in town for just a couple days so we celebrated while they were in town! We had a great time hanging out with family, eating yummy food at a restaurant called Snooze, opening and giving presents, caroling (kind of ;)) and just enjoying being around each other!

Thanksgiving in Pueblo

This Thanksgiving we went down to Pueblo to spend time with Josh's family. His grandparents (Sky's great grandparents) and Cami came to town to spend the holiday together. We had a lot of family fun with playing games, eating and talking. We played Carcassonne many many times, which was a lot of fun but I don't really seem to win. One day I will get better at the game but I still think it's a lot of fun!

Now that Black Friday starts on Thurday, there is really no need to wake up super early to go shopping! So Thursday evening rolled around, part of the family went to go see a movie and Josh and I were at home taking a little nap/watching football. When I woke up I said, let's go to Jcpenny! I had seen in the ad that 1 in every 100 people would win $100 dollars and everyone else would get $10, while supplies lasted. We got there right as they were opening to see what we could win. Well, we ended up winning a $100!! We couldn't believe it! I ended up getting a pair of wedges, a pair of black booties, a skirt and shirt for Sky and a puffy Columbia jacket all for $10 total out of our pocket! Walking out of the store I told Josh I felt like we were stealing from the store because it was such an amazing deal! I mean that jacket alone normally costs $160! wow! Is it bad if I say that this amazing deal was the highlight of my trip? Haha I just LOVE getting a great deal on cute things!

It was so fun to see the great grandparents play with Sky. They were so sweet with her and she absolutely loved them!

Trip to Nashville

This past weekend Josh and I went on a trip to Nashville and it was Sky's very first plane ride! Josh had work at a baseball tradeshow there and Sky and I just tagged along for the fun! I thought Sky would do well on the plane ride because she is still pretty mellow of a baby, and she sure did well. She cried for a few minutes, and I knew she was tired, but she just kept fighting me on in. So I held her tight and close and sang her soft Christmas songs and within a few minutes she was out! She slept for half of it and played the other part. Overall a great success.

While in Nashville we went downtown for some BBQ at Jack's, walked around downtown, visited the amazing Opryland Hotel, walked around Ceekwood Botanical Gardens, drove around Vanderbilt, enjoyed some great meals, swam in the indoor pool, and just had a fun little get away!

Over the trip Skyler learned a new trick -- screaming, Just for fun, screaming. So while Josh was working one day I went to the mall to walk around (it was an indoor outlet mall! I wanted to buy so many things ;)) and as I am walking through the stores Sky is screaming out at everyone and no one all at the same time! She wasn't mad or anything. Just letting out loud and unsuspecting screams. As if she was not getting enough attention from everyone around her before... her shrieks sure were getting her more attention. It was pretty funny and embarrassing all at the same time :) I'm wondering when this little habit will wear off...

Opryland was just as amazing and ginormous as everyone said it was! I loved it during the night with all of the lights, and they even had a gorgeous nativity outside with lights. Saturday was SOO stinkin' busy though, it was pretty ridiculous. Our hotel was just across the street and we took a shuttle over (parking cost $25! No way!) and it took us 20 minutes! The traffic leading off and on the highway was almost completely stopped. Oh it was quite the sight. And getting around the inside with a stroller was also a fiasco since there were so many people and also a lot of random stairs. We probably took the long way around places 90% of the time. It was easy to get turned around.

At the Botanical Gardens we walked around, and even though it is winter and the trees aren't pretty and nice, it was still fun to walk around, see some of the structures and look at the reindeer and santa's sleigh! It was cool but not too cold outside and a great activity for a night of traveling home.

Sky made friends with all the people wherever we went which is always fun to see. Two of the men helping out with the tradeshow event became good friends with Sky and me. One of them even took a couple quick pictures of us just for fun. He is the photographer for the Arizona Baseball team. I am naturally introverted but having a cute baby directs a lot of attention to us and makes it fun and easy to talk to random people.

One of the days I got to meet up with family friends of ours! Our families have been friends since pretty much forever. They were so sweet and treated me to lunch and then we walked around and just caught up! It was a great time and so nice of them to drive to some visit me.

Overall it was a great little trip and fun to get away for the weekend to somewhere different. It can be so refreshing just to get away and see and experiences new things. We are already trying to decide what trip we want to take next <3
