One month

One month of being married and things are great in the Peterson house hold. People say that you won't remember much from your wedding day, that it'll all be a huge blur, but I am determined that I won't forget the day! I try to write in my journal to remember life (because I seem to have an awful memory of things and I want to always remember the big moments and the little ones). But I want to share some moments that now stand out in my mind when I look back on our special day.

• Being restless in the morning. I had too much time on my hands before it was time to get ready and go to the temple!
• The short time I got to spend with just me and Josh in the temple before our marriage ceremony. 
• The feeling of being surrounded by all of our closet friends and family in our marriage ceremony.
• The way I didn't cry during the ceremony and I was so proud of myself, until my sweet Grandpa Sal gave me a hug with tears in his eyes. I lost it after that. 
• How affectionate my Grandma Alice was to me that whole day. How happy she looked.
• The little butterfly feelings I got when I was about to walk out of the temple and everyone was going to see me.
• When my mom had to hold up my dress for me in the bathroom so that I could pee.
• My precious "baby boy" (me neighbor who I have babysat since he was born, who is now 3 years old). He saw me for the first time, ran to me and yelled out "Miss Emmy you're getting married!!!" and then later told me "Miss Emmy you look fabulous." My. Heart. Melted. 
• My "baby girl" (baby boy's older sister who is 7) and how she just danced the night away! She is a much better dancer than me. I love how excited she was. And she was so beautiful. I love that family.
• The blur of meeting all new people! I probably won't remember all the people that I met that day, but the excitement of it all was just fabulous. 
• Cutting the cake... and feeling like, now what? Because I know people probably wished we had smeared cake in each others' faces but me and Josh had a talk about how that wouldn't happen. :) sorry folks!
• All the pictures! I just loved our photographer. She was seriously SO great and so much fun. We had a blast taking pictures together, I wished we had more time to take more. 
• My bridesmaids. I remember how beautiful they all were. Just looking at them reminded me of how far I have come in life and how I have had some great friends to help me along the way. 
• How Carissa (one of my bridesmaids) cried as she saw me for the first time outside of the temple. I had to tell us, no crying! I would have just lost it again. I was so glad that she was there.
• Getting ready in the morning with all of the girls in bathroom, painting nails while Chels did my hair and make up. Girl time is always awesome.
• Taking pictures with my grandma (dad's side) and grandpa (mom's side). I will always cherish all the moments that I get with them. Grandpa is from Puerto Rico so it really was such a treat for him to be able to be here with me. I am so grateful to have gotten pictures with him. And my Grandma, who lives close by when we are in UT. I have so loved having her so close to me through my college years and have been through some incredible experiences with her. I was so grateful that she was healthy enough to come out and share my special time.
• It was hard to dance in my dress!
• The photo booth person... boy or girl... I am still unsure.
• Leaving the reception WAY later than we were supposed to. But thoroughly enjoying all the time that we had there.
• Hardly eating any of the food that we had. But I heard it was good at least!
• The centerpieces. I was in love with them.
• Having a lunch packed for us from Heidi's Brooklyn Deli by our dear friends, the Omanson's. I absolutely love their sandwiches and I was starving in transition from the temple to taking pictures before the reception. It was a (delicious) lifesaver.
• Buying a new pair of flip flops to wear when I wasn't wearing my heels, and forgetting them in the car, so I got to use them more after the wedding day than on the actual day. (any excuse for new shoes right? :))
• Getting in the car to leave to the hotel and feeling so incredibly happy that I just married my best friend. While at the same time, feeling like not much had changed for us. (Even now i feel like I'm not actually married sometimes! I think that might last a while)
• How on the ride to the temple to get married my dad looks back at me and says "you're awfully calm back there for getting married today!" I thought this was pretty funny. And it was true. I was just SO ready that I wasn't nervous, jittery, or anything like that. I was just calm and ready. 

It was such a perfect day. Not even an unexpected pimple that showed up that morning! We had an amazing day, surrounding by amazing people and we couldn't have asked for anything more! One month down, eternity to go.

NachOOOOOOO

We love nachos. We love Cafe Rio nachos. We miss Cafe Rio nachos. So we tried to make similar nachos all by ourselves and it turned out pretty darn good! All we really need now is to get their sweet pork recipe and we are set! We thought it was kinda funny that we just made and entire pan and ate right out of it (I hate to make a bigger mess than I need to with dishes so it was perfect!). Yes, we did eat the entire thing. No we don't regret it.

What's in it? Chips, cheese, corn, beans, tomatoes, bbq chicken, and sour cream! Mm mm good!

Oh and we had a homemade lemon slush. Also delicious.

I am so cutting edge!

Sunday I learned a new skill. Because I had to haha. Prices for boy's hair cuts are ridiculous! Seriously. So we decided that I was to cut Josh's hair so that we can save money. I had never cut someone's hair before so it was quite an experience! Josh walked me through how he has seen it done and together we cut his hair! I was a little nervous at first. Partially because I've never done it before and partially because I usually don't like the length of Josh's hair after a haircut anyway and I could only blame myself now! But it was fun and actually didn't turn out too bad! Take a look and don't judge.

Please also don't judge our dirty bathroom mirror. We currently borrow all our cleaning supplies from other people because we don't own any! We had to go to our neighbors (who we don't even know) to even get a broom to clean up all the hair!

I'd say that his hair looks good :) And with time, and better scissors, one day this boy may be cutting my hair!

I don't want to be told to grow up, I just wanna have fun!

The other day me and Josh decided to make a fort to watch our movie in. Even though I am a little bit lame and didn't get too creative with our fort, I love the way it turned out. We even brought our mattress in and slept over night! But do you know what the best part it?? It has been up now for a few days, and there is no one here to tell us we can't! :) We will always be kids at heart. But having our own place is AWESOME, because it is ours. We can make our own rules and we can break our own rules. Or we can keep a fort in our family room for 5 (or more) days. Whatever we want to do! Do you know another great part about it?? I haven't slept this good in quite a while! I slept so great the past few nights it has been awesome! Is it because of the fort? I'm not sure but it makes me not want to go back to my room! 

Can't sleep

Lately, I can't sleep through the night. And I wake up in the morning exhausted because of it. Josh hasn't been sleeping real well either and last night apparently just wasn't our night. It was very frustrating, but, like always, my man makes things so much better. So at 4am he told me that I've been awake too long, he brought the TV into our room, put on the movie Planet Earth and brought us some ice cream in bed. And we stayed up for about an hour in a half until we decided that maybe we could fall asleep again, and went back to bed. Oh it is the little random moments like this that I always hope to remember.

First Date Night in NE

I love date nights. Even when they are random and low key. We decided to go out and do something Saturday night because Josh got home earlier than I thought he would! Our first stop: Walmart to get a few supplies like milk and movies. We love movies and we don't have any TV channels so movies are essential right now. After that we decided we were really hungry so we wanted something to eat and pretty quick. We put Little Ceasar's into the GPS (we still don't know where most things are) and it was three miles away. So we set out. It was stormy and rainy though so we thought curling up and snuggling to a movie sounded pretty nice. On the way to LC I saw a Texas Roadhouse and I got REALLY excited. I love that place so much! So Josh decided that is what we should have :) We got there, ate a lot of rolls, ordered our meal and then took the rest home so we could relax! It was a wonderful night! I love this man and our fun, random dates.

O-mah-ha

Well, for those of you who didn't know, me and Josh moved to Omaha Nebraska two days after arriving back in CO after our honeymoon. We packed all of our belongings in my little old car and we headed out to a place that we are very unfamiliar with on our way to new adventures! It was a very straight car ride with not much scenery other than my very handsome husband, which made for easy driving.

 I'm sure my car was thankful for that. We have been here for about four full days now and I think it is just starting to hit me that I am married... and I am absolutely loving it!

Oh I guess I should explain WHY we are living in Nebraska. Well, Josh got a job working for Pinnacle selling security systems for the summer. It is something that he has never done before but it has some potential for some money, which being newly weds means that we really need it. Today was his first full day selling by himself with just a couple days of training, but yesterday he was able to make his first sale! I know that he will do amazing because he has such a people person personality, he is very friendly but also convincing and the fact that he is a very dedicated and hard worker and when he puts his mind to something he can do anything! He is already working very hard and I am so proud and lucky to call him all mine!

Our apartment that we are living in is more than we will probably have for a while now! It is pretty spacious with two large room, two full bathrooms, kitchen, a den, dining room area and the washer and dryer. We love it (except for the fact that there was a dog living there before us and we don't have a vacuum!)

We know a couple of people living close by to us. And when I say we, I mean Josh. He has an Aunt and Uncle and their kids who live about a mile away from us! We didn't know that we would be that close to them and we think that it is pretty awesome! We were able to go over to their house the day that we arrived and have dinner with them and get to know their family a little better. I also had the wonderful opportunity of babysitting 3 of their kids the other day all day which was awesome as well! (I wish I could get a nanny job out here but I love nannying and I already miss my babies back home in CO).

While Josh is at work, I sit at home relaxing and enjoying life. Haha just kidding. I am enjoying life but I have kept pretty busy these past few days. I've been unpacking and putting together our house! It makes me a little sad because I wish we could take this apartment back with us to Utah, but that isn't going to happen. And we didn't bring all of our stuff that we go from the wedding out here either because we didn't have much room so the house isn't as complete as it could be. I have had to make several trips to the store as we try and get all the essentials to living. I've been cooking meals (this is a bit of an accomplishment to me) and I love being able to do that for Josh so that when he comes in at night that I can give him a good(ish) meal and he doesn't have to worry about cooking after a long day at work! I am beginning to feel like a wifey and I am loving it. But I am also low on recipes so any recipes that you all like please please please share!!

I am on the hunt for a job as well as having to work on an online class and teach myself more Spanish over the summer, so no matter what I think I will be pretty busy this summer! I think we are  going to have a great time here, starting our new life with just me and him, doing new things in a new place. It is going to be great and I am very optimistic for our future.
