Colorado Fires

Many of you already know that there have been a ton of fires in Colorado these past few weeks, and not just little ones either. Big fires. Evacuating thousands of people from their homes and not being able to contain the fire kind of big. Scary big. And many times you just look at the news and you think "that is tragic" but then life moves on and you go about your day. Unless you're the person that got evacuated, unless you're their neighbors, unless your family is one of the people who had to leave their home.

Josh's aunt and uncle live in one of those areas that got evacuated and was in high danger. They had to leave their precious home behind. But they did that in faith. They left knowing that the next time they came back their house and everything in it might not be there. But they were so strong and so trusting in God. There were many prayers that went out for this family and for all of those around them. Even when we weren't on our knees, there was always a prayer in our hearts that they, and their house, would be okay. It is the hard times in life where people's character really shines through. The Marlor family is an inspiration to me with their faith, strength and the hope that they had.

Words can't really describe the emotions and happenings of the past week, and I can't pretend to know everything that went on through out that time. But I want the Marlor family to know that they are always in my thoughts and in my prayers (along with all of those people who have been affected by these fires). We love you!

It's all in the details [Wedding]

Here are some pictures of the decorations/details of our wedding!!
We were going for a modern vintage feel and I think that we captured it pretty well. I loved all the decorations!

I'm a new soul, I came to this strange world

I heard the song "New Soul" on Pandora and it reminded me of a stop motion video I made last summer with my oldest sis, Alyssa (well, she did most of the "making"). It always reminds me of it. And I so badly want to do another one!! One day I tell you. One day. Just waiting on an available, and capable, camera.

Take a look :)

Just in case you were wondering, there is not meant to be a plot in this video. Just a bunch of random fun!

Winter Quarters Temple

This morning Josh and I were able to go to the temple! The temple sessions are all at times that Josh is at work or in a meeting, but we know how important it is to always make time for the temple! So Josh was able to take a little time out of his day to make the trip with me. It was only my second time going through the temple since we got married and I have absolutely loved it!! The temple is a place of peace, reverence and of refuge from the outside world. When we are there, little else matters. Our thoughts are focused on our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. How amazing it is to be in the house of the Lord, a place where we are closest to God and feel of His love and comfort. I believe in the power and blessings that come from going worthily to the temple and in the ordinances that take place there.

A couple quotes on the temple:

“At the temple the dust of distraction seems to settle out, the fog and the haze seem to lift, and we can ‘see’ things that we were not able to see before and find a way through our troubles that we had not previously known.”
—President Boyd K. Packer

“I think there is no place in the world where I feel closer to the Lord than in one of His holy temples.”—President Thomas S. Monson

We also got to go to Chipotle for lunch!! Oh man it was a great morning with my amazing husband! I love temple dates with the hubby. Especially when they involve food afterward :)

We are dorks. But life is better that way.

Update via phone pics

Brushing our teeth before church. Josh wearing awesome glasses with no lenses.

 New earring? @ Bryn's wedding
Storms. We seem to be getting a lot of those around here lately. You can't tell in this picture but it was storming hard! And about two minutes after I decided that the deck was not the greatest place to be, it started storming even harder. I tried just opening the door to my deck but I got prayed with water. The wind was blowing very hard! I was worried because Josh was outside working, and without a car. Soo... I ended up having to go pick him up (after it died down a little bit. It was even hailing at one point!) while he took refuge in some random person's house. Thank you random nice people who protected my husband. And thank you awful storm, for allowing us to get a date night.

Before it got really bad
 Father's Day

An awesome brick road that we drove down after church! It was very windy, and bright, and hard to get a good picture. You better believe that we will go back and try again.
