looking forward

Yesterday took all I had to smile. Which is the reason why I look like I have a huge attitude in these pictures. It was a day where this simple tee and jeans were perfect because I was spit up on all day long and pulled at and cried on and slept on. It was a long day of watching the little one. And more than that it was a hard day emotionally. I was talking to Josh about life and such the other day. It was a more serious conversation about some tough things that are going on. And I talked about how every time I experience something hard, challenging, or sad that those are the times that I feel older. I never feel older on my birthday, or as each month passes, or as each year goes by. It is in the times that  I struggle, or have to face something new and scary that I really feel older. They are also usually the times that I wish I were a kid again so I can be naive to the things of the world and that life could be more simple with less scary and less hurt. But I do know that these things will make me stronger, will give more richness to my life and will make me a better woman. So here's to another day. But not just any old day, but to that special day of the week Friday and to the weekend. We are looking forward to the break and for a better weekend, and for maybe having so much fun we feel like kids again.

mom, what does mousse do?

This is a classic question in our family. I once asked this to my mom and she stopped, thought about it for about half a sec and said "um, I don't know, something like nmmmmmm (this is supposed to be an animal noise, but let's face it, who ever knows how to spell them out right)". She thought she was preeeety funny. ans maybe she was. Well onto an only partially related note. I was setting the table for dinner when across the window I see this huge dark thing slowly walk across. It freaked me out people! So I went over the next window to discover that it was a moose! Apparently it was a baby moose, but the thing was massive! The grandparents weren't impressed, because apparently they are used to it. I kept my cool too, don't worry (as I actually ran down stairs to get the camera.. haha). It was funny and random. And I like funny and random.

On another non related note can I just say how happy I am? Life is just GOOD. I mean, the days are busy which is a great change from last summer and I love Park City. And most of all I love summer nights. I love the long walks with hubby and I love how it is not too hot right now either. I love how last night hubby and I stayed up late and watched the Bachelorette (it wasn't even my idea...) and then just talked about life until we drifted to sleep. It's those little moments you know? Those little things that remind you of how simple life should really be and how awesome it is to have the man I do by my side. We are the best of friends and I will never get over how amazing that is and how blessed I feel to have him always by my side. I hope your summer nights are all filled with friends and family and those simple moments that you don't let pass you by. I know I hope to never forget mine.

jeans: bootcut to skinny

It was a long day the other day watching the little kiddo that I nanny for. The boys all went on the boat and I opted to stay home and just RELAX and maybe even take a late evening nap. But as soon as I laid down I realized that I wasn't actually going to fall asleep and I was in the mood to do something crafty again, so I decided to try out some more sewing! I had these old pair of jeans that I found when I was at home a couple weeks ago. I haven't worn them in who knows how long and I just did not like the fit of the leg (a little wider than a boot cut?). So I decided to try and make them into skinny jeans. I found this simple tutorial on this cute girl's blog and I gave it a go! Please do not judge my awful pictures. It was dark, I used a tripod, its a bad angle, I am in the basement with awful lighting and for some reason my hair looks different in every picture...  awkward.

Before

During

After

Well it definitely was an adventure trying this out. It took me several attempts on that first leg,  with a lot of seam ripping and re-trying on. BUT I like the jeans a lot more now than I did before. A new pair of jeans that cost me $0. Now I can't complain too much about that now can I. I hope the next pair that I try out turn out even better! It was a useful project that satisfied my crafting urge.

shirt: old to new

I love clothes. But I don't always love MY clothes. I get bored of them pretty quickly but don't have the money to keep up with always buying new ones. So when I come across blogs or ideas of things that I can do myself, I get pretty excited. For this project I took an old t-shirt that I was THIS close to just throwing away in the trash, and made it into a graphic tee. I think the little design completely changed this shirt and I love how it turned out (even though it is definitely not perfect, I think that makes it even better). Here is what I did.

stewart falls

Saturday we hung out with Josh's Uncle Kirk and his two kids. I love this family so much (wish you could have been there too Andrea! Next time :)) and it was fun to do some hiking with them. Josh and I had never done this hike before and it was beautiful and a lot fun! We really loved the hike. I love how we have gotten to see a lot of God's beauty of this Earth lately. It is so refreshing and uplifting to spend time exploring this world, I can't wait to keep exploring.

first day of the internship

I guess if I hadn't explained before, I should recap our plans for the summer. We vacationed a month before Josh started his internship because the opportunity only lasts 90 days, why not party it up the rest of the time?! :) Now that we had a nice break for a month we are living in Park City, Utah with Josh's grandparents. He started last week at a company working in their marketing department. So far he is learning new things and given more and more responsibility each day.

I will be nannying a 4 month old boy, working on an online class, possibly doing coding for a professor, and anything else to keep me busy this summer!

It is a great opportunity and we are grateful that we are able to be here right now!

home to Colorado: part 2

We are lucky enough to both have our parents in Colorado so after about a week we went down to Pueblo and spent about a week there. It was an interesting trip down there with everyone one by one getting the stomach flu until everyone in the house got it (except me! How does THAT happen?! especially when my poor hubby is in bed next to me throwing up every half an hour all night long! Counting my blessings...). Chari, my sis-in-law, graduated from health academy and we went to her ceremony! She is an inspiration through her hard work and loving personality. I was glad that we were able to be part of that special day with her. We also went boating, to some graduation parties, had a  garage sale, I was given a new bike as a gift, and played some games and ate some food. It was an eventful trip!

The next week we spent back up in Parker. We went to Rock Canyon park and hiked but it was SOO windy that we did not go too far because we had Brynlee with us and some of our ears were hurting really bad from the wind. It was a fun time while we were there though! We celebrated my wonderful mother's birthday (she's now 30 ;)) We played games at night, went bowling, checked out some model homes for fun, went downtown for a Rockies game and enjoyed a lot of fun baby time. One of my favorite things that we did was go to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park and go hiking. It was just me, Josh and Dad because others had to unfortunately work. I was so excited to take Josh there for the first time and show him my favorite hike. I remembered the three lakes that you'd hike to one by one and all of the lily pods floating in one of them. Well, when we started hiking, I realized that the lake and trails would look a lot different than what I pictured in my head. The trails were under 2- feet of snow almost the entire way and all the lakes were frozen over. The paths were hard to navigate and we were all definitely not wearing the right shoes to be hiking in packed snow. But it made the trip just that more exciting and memorable! At any point in the hike your foot might just drop straight through a foot or two of snow. And the trail was not an official trail anymore so at points we were walking on the lake. I realized this at one point when my foot went down over a foot of snow and my shoe got soaking wet from the water at the bottom! Well it was quite the adventure and so amazingly beautiful! I absolutely loved it! After hiking (and being not so smart for not bringing snacks) we were all very hungry. We ate lunch at a cute little place called Poppy's, walked around the little town, bought the freshest taffy you've ever tasted and grabbed a little ice cream for the road home.

It was a great trip to Colorado and we feel so blessed for everything our parents and family do for us and that we live close enough to visit and that we had such a large amount of time to spend with them. I know I am ready to settle into a little more of a routine and definitely better eating habits now that we are back.
