Arizona Adventure

Hello to all!  This may come as a surprise to all who read this blog, including Emily (she doesn’t know I am writing this) because today’s post is coming from the one and only Joshua Kurt Peterson.  For all of you who have been losing sleep over trying to guess my middle name, you can now rest peacefully.  Now I know you might think that it’s been a long time since I have done anything for this blog but that is quite false…who do you think takes the majority of the pictures on this blog?  Me J  I don’t really have a say in it though…Emily is obviously a lot better looking than me which by default makes me the one who has to stand behind the camera rather than in front of it.

This past week was a fun new experience for me as I was able to learn more about the sales side of Nutraceutical (the company I am interning for).  When I expressed my desire to my boss to possibly pursue sales after college, he gave me the opportunity to spend some time in Phoenix at a couple of retail stores and also shadow a Sales Rep for two days out in the field.

One of the nights I wanted to get out so I decided to go to an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game by myself.  I had only previously been to a Colorado Rockies game so I figured it would be fun, not to mention I love baseball.  I ended up buying a ticket from a guy on the road for $10 which as you can imagine put me up in the “nose bleed” section.  After watching one inning in that seat I decided I would attempt to move down to the middle level of the stadium.   This only kept me content for about two innings until I decided I would try to move closer.  As I made the daring move to the ground level seats I was lucky enough to time my entrance just right when the ticket checker briefly walked away.  I had great seats and was enjoying the game, yes even by myself.  It wasn’t long after that I began to think about how cool it would be to sit front row.  After spotting an open seat I watched for a couple innings to see if anyone would be coming back to reclaim their spot.  To my surprise it remained open the entire time.  At the end of the sixth inning I made my move…success!! I realized that not only was I sitting front row but I was sitting in a special padded seat section.  I soon became friends with those around me and enjoyed the rest of the game from my padded front row seat.

I had never seen an indoor stadium...it was really cool

I sat right next to this seat valued at $140

3 day cleanse

Sometimes in life I feel like I don't have the control that I wish I had. I feel trapped in cravings of sweets at night or of meals I like to eat out. I'm not saying that these things are bad or that I have them all the time, but I hate the feeling I get when I say to myself, oh I HAVE to have this, and that something I know is not what my body needs. I hate how I've never been good as pushing myself to do hard things. Like when I exercise, I know that if I push past the really hard part of the run or whatever I am doing that my body will get that much stronger and that It will get easier, but yet I stop or slow down instead.

I guess what I am getting at is that I want to be in better control of myself. I have become a big fan of high fruits and veggies eating lately, more so than the usual knowing that they are good for me and eating a few servings a day (probably from a mix of reading blogs, watching documentaries on food, and my husband working at a health company for the summer). I have been wanting to juice/do a cleanse now for a variety of reasons and I kept feeling like a bit of a failure for not pushing myself and buckling down and trying one out, cause lets face it, its not an easy thing to do. I am understanding more and more the phrase I have heard that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". Me wanting to do something will not be enough, I have to take action! So this past week, I prepared and completed a 3 day cleanse!

I used Dr. Oz's three day cleanse recipes and did it from Tuesday to Thursday. It was tough at times, and not enjoying a good, satisfying dinner was especially difficult for me, but in the end I really did  feel great. I felt great physically, I had lost a few pounds and I especially felt great because I had accomplished something that I thought was hard which gave me even more motivation to keep pressing forward in my goals to a healthier me! I am one step closer to some of the goals that I have and that makes me feel great! I am curious what other cleanses are like and want to keep exploring new recipes of blended drinks and new high veggie, and tasty, meals! So if anyone has some suggestions or things that they have tried, please leave a comment or get a hold of me to share! I need help in my search for change and it is always great to have friends and family to support me.

DIY skinny jean and DIY new pocket

I have these jeans that I like but the cut at the bottom is a little off. I am not really sure how to describe them so I decided to take them in a little and make them skinnies! I also had an old orange shirt that I hardly ever wear and some fabric from a scarf, so I decided to try out this putting a new pocket on an old shirt thing. I am not in love with how it turned out but I learned some things that I will do differently with the next pocket that I put on a shirt. I think the light blue really adds something to the shirt though!

July 4th

It was girl time with: me, Sherly, Debbie, Heather, Ashley, and Brittany. (and josh taking the picture). I love our family. They are a blast.

All blondes with light colored eyes. Beautiful family!

It was a fabulous 4th of July. Since our plans changed in Park City due to a storm in the night, we had a relaxing start to our day. We headed down to Provo to meet up with some of Josh's family. Then we bbq'd, went swimming and enjoyed yummy frozen yogurt. These were the perfect things to do on a hot 4th of July day! Then in the evening Josh and I set up the hammock and enjoyed our time at a park. It was another great day for the Peterson's!

the 3rd of July

We celebrated the day before the fourth with a concert at the Canyons in Park City and yummy Cold Stone while watching the fireworks. It was a fun afternoon listening to the music of the concert. We love to people watch so it was fun to observe all the people around us at the concert and walking around. But my favorite conversation of the night went like this:

josh: what flavor candy did you get?
me: apple
josh: hey me too!..(pauses for a sec)... I think we should kiss.
He is so random, I just went off into a fit of giggles after he said that.

Cold Stone was the best way we could have ended our day. I had to really BEG for Josh to go here because he's the practical, it would be cheaper and we could eat it more than once if we buy a pint from the grocery store kind of guy. And I am the I love Cold Stone so much I don't care about the practicality of it kind of gal. (Dad, I even used the excuse that you would get it with me if you were here. I think that was my selling point ;) I miss my Cold Stone buddy!) So it really was an extra special night :)

peplum and park city

Another Sunday walk with my love. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by the beauty in Park City and in Utah in general. God's creations truly are magnificent. As I walk through the trees and listen to the trickle of the stream by me I am amazed at how wonderful it is. It gives me peace and clears my mind from a clouded week or day. It is in these moments of exploration, laughter and beauty that I am recharged and feel a greater presence of God.
